This November has been interesting, to say the least. As I mentioned, I decided to finish a story for Nano that has been in the works, since, well, last November. And while I read it before-hand and knew where I want it to go, it didn’t quite go that way. Continue reading
It’s that time of the year again. November is right around the corner, which means so is NaNoWriMo! I’m excited for another good November, but a little nervous as well. As usual, I’m not ready. As usual, I’m so ready. Continue reading
One thing I’m really terrible at is naming things. It doesn’t matter if it’s a blog post, a story, a character, or even a pet. It’s just terrible. I thought I was doing okay, at least as far as blog titles go, until the last one. Yes, some of the previous ones had been a little repetitive with the same structure and different words, but it was okay. Until my last post, when I was reviewing my blog and realized that the past two posts had pretty much the exact same title. I thought about changing it, but I just didn’t know what to change it to.

I’ve been working on editing a manuscript of mine. I haven’t done a lot of editing before, but it’s been something I’ve been working on for a while now. I have different big picture or narrative changes I want to make, and then of course there’s the little things. I’ve been tackling the editing process by going line by line, reading over everything. The past few weeks have been stressful, to say the least. A family member fell critically ill, and I found myself spending most of my days in the hospital for a period of time. While they are now on the road to recovery, it’s been a big shock to my family. Before this, we had been blessed to never have had anything major happen. I’d honestly never been in the hospital, and we never understood just how valuable the support of family and friends was.
During this time, one thing that stalled, among others, was my writing. Continue reading
As I began writing and even now, one of the things I’ve struggled with in my stories is description. I just don’t have enough, and it doesn’t paint a picture. I know that I need to work on it, and as I’ve written and edited more, it’s still one of my weaknesses. Continue reading
